There are time in our lives when we will need to refocus and do what is right for ourselves. And, what is right for self may not be right for others. That’s okay. Part of the beauty of life is we can continue to grow as individuals and shape who or what we want to become.
This has been my space in 2018. I had to do what was right for myself. Most individuals trying to promote a betterment lifestyle through writing would not do that (https://betterhappiness.com). But for me it’s been a year of change and growth, some expected and some not. Most of these changes have been exciting and invigorating, such as the purchase of a new home and relocation to a new area. Others were devastating and painful to experience, though none as much as the unexpected passing of my mother-in-law. Still, I have seen there can be growth both in the good and in the bad. This is what life is about. Riding out the good times and difficulties and supporting each other along the way.
During this time I’ve thought a lot and written little. It’s what I needed to do. Sometimes it’s good to allow situations to play out as you go with the flow of things. To observe, reflect and refocus. Then, when the time is right, to act. My eyes have opened a little bit more to the joy and frailty of life. How things and people are here today and gone tomorrow. Or, how a challenging circumstance can change to an opportunity knocking, and open the door to something remarkable.
Life is enjoyable to live when we can live it in the way intended: as a people of free will and choice, able to enjoy the fruits of labors in peace with our families and friends. No, life will not be without its share of pain, sorrow and disappointments, but we can grow.
Taking time away was right for me. Now, it’s time to refocus on the cause. My goal is to promote living one’s better happiness and encourage people to be their best in whatever circumstance they are living.
Life means change. Change is significant. The growth mindset is invigorating. Even more, living one’s better happiness is priceless.
